Being the Black Sheep this weekend meant embracing the zombie life at the Surfers Paradise Zombie Walk! (I know! I look absoloutely FABULOUS, don't I?) The event helps to raise much needed funds for the Brain Foundation to reasearch neurological disorders, brain disease and brain injuries. They are doing AMAZING work in that field and need community support.
To help you take care of that beutiful brain of yours, I've got a super-hot-tip around learning and researching that will make you more efficient and save you from a headache or two!
Think about when you normally learn something or start to research something. Maybe it's a new skill or you're looking into a new holiday destination. What would you normally do? Go and read EVERYTHING you can find! And what's wrong with that? You might need some of that informaition one day! JUST IN CASE. Or not. That approach is not helping you get ANYTHING done. And the real downside is that the more you read, the more you "take in" - the more that gets lost in the bottomless pit that is your brain. TOTAL INEFFICIENCY.
So how do we get around that? EASY. Gather our infomrmation JUST IN TIME instead!
What does that look like? It's pretty simple really. Only go searching for WHAT you need, WHEN you need it!
Need to do research for an article you're writing? Start just before you put pen to paper. Not the week before!
Thinking of taking a trip to a new holiday destination? Dig into research JUST before you book. Not 6 months earlier!
That's not to say that you stop reading for personal development or pleasure! But if it's for a SPECIFIC PURPOSE - do yourself a favour and JUST IN TIME it!

How many times have you talked yourself out of something REALLY impoirtant with your own BS rationale?
Like - it's too wet out to go to the gym, I'll just stay in bed.
Or I can't possibly make it to my martial arts class because I've got a bit of a headache.
I'll start eating healthy next week...This one is already a write off!
In the moment, it all makes perfect sense - but when you look at it, like REALLY look at it - It's all just EXCUSES.
EXCUSES stopping you from being everything you can be.
Acheiving everything you want to acheive.
LIVING YOUR BEST LIFE.
Excuses are the ENEMY.
Comfort is the ENEMY.
If you're comfortable your not growing.
You're not gettting better.
DON'T FALL INTO THE TRAP.
Next time you feel yourself formulating some excuse.
STOP. And JUST GET IT DONE.
Future you will be grateful.

I just got back from my friends wedding in Fiji and the tropical paradise got me thinking about a few things..
I'm talking about glass half empty, glass half full here people - which is it?
If it's half empty, it's time to do some mental rework.
WHY? Because it's effecting your wellbeing...BIG TIME - in ways you might not have even considered. It effects the way you handle stress, the way you learn, your happiness levels and can even effect your immune system.
Black Sheep DEFINITELY don't have time for that! So let's dig a little deeper.
Stephen Covey, who wrote one of the most famous productivity books going (7 Habits of Highly Effeictive Peeople) coined the abundance mindset and scarcity mindset. Sheep who are rocking an abundance mindset beleive that there is plenty of resources and success to go around while those who are sporting a scarcity mindset beleive that if someone else wins or is successful in a situation, that means you lose - not that we can ALL win.
It's pretty obvious which is the better one to adopt to get the most out of life. But how do you make the shift if you are dwelling on a glass half empty?
The best place to start is with your THOUGHTS.
Start taking NOTE of your thoughts and feelings and catch yourself when they are negative. Just by being aware of them, you can make a conscious effort to shift them.
Ask yourself "What thought would I need to think in order to shift my mindset from scarcity to abundance." Then simply replace one for the other.
For example - you might find yourself thinking "I don't have enough time to get everything done!" Instead, what if you thought - "By prorisiting what's really important to me and getting rid of what isn't, I'll have more than enough time for EVERYTHING!"
BOOM! Give that a try and see what doors start opening for you. You might be surprised...
